A leading cervical cancer expert has claimed a screening and vaccination programme could eradicate the disease within the next five decades. Do you agree?

i would think that this is dependant on what form the screening would take. we are already underway with the vaccination programme but how would you screen a girl of 12 unless it were 'gene screening' via a blood test.

I totally agree with Helen, this does depend on the screeneing programme. Even 5 decades is a long way into the future for obvious reasons. The Girls treated/screend now will be the 'right age' to show signs of Cervical cancer by the time they are in their 30's/40's. What a shame we have to wait so long before we know if this can be eradicated.
A friend of mine recently died from this dreadful disease, even though it was caught fairly early on, she just didn't respond well to treatment finally giving up her fight two weeks ago. She was 37 yrs old.
