A few quick fire thoughts and bullet points which I hope make sense--- 'Good interpersonal skills' eg self awareness, personal insights re blind spots, self impact assessment, good engagement skills--- 'Good listening skills' appropriate levels of receptiveness - ideally good communication generally involves responses and exchange!!--- 'Substance and Style !!!' being interesting always helps--- 'Gauging the receptiveness of the audience' re context, value of what is being communicated, frame of reference and relevance of topic--- Humour in order to retain interest with the capability to improvise a little, be spontaneous without losing the core aim and key message(s)--- 'Having knowledge and or flair' or having a powerful lesson or story to tell re the given field or subject--- 'Pace' not too fast and too passionate / enthusiastic but not too slow and intense however expert the knowledge, information being communicated if its not judged and paced well you lose the audience--- Text books I fear will suggest a good deal of other standard predictable characteristics but these are mine !! my core values in striving towards being a 'good enough' communicator Oh I forgot to mention humility and good capability to self scritinise or achieving objective feedback and reflect on how well you did last time you tried to communicate !!!!
